I also just noted that our most prolific political poster on board doesn't seem to know the difference between 'friends' and 'politics & current affairs'.....

I don`t know why people get upset about the political discussions that go on here ,that`s one of the topics for discussion that Adults can have

If only the adults could have some civilized and rational conversations on politics I wouldn't mind at all.

and its a separate subject of its own?

Unless you check the forum by 'latest' activity to keep up.

It would be great if it were possible to 'hide' certain forum sections from view. I would definitely use that.

if california or other far left groups in charge would push for making pedophiles quote normal unquote.

Take the victims age, subtract 10, double it and add 11. Anyone that age or older is prosecuted. Add 13 instead ... anyone that age or older is a registered sex offender. Add 15 instead ... anyone that age or older is executed.

Well, apart from the death penalty part I think this is an interesting approach.
And right away it also becomes clear how hard it is to fix a reasonable, coherent and consistent approach in words.

For example, in your approach a 17 year old isn't considered mature enough to consent to sex with a 25 year old, and at the same time the death penalty is considered a proper punishment for other (or maybe even the very same!) 17 year olds.

I accept that your proposal is just a quick (yet interesting!) example. I'm also not pinning you down on it. Just pointing out how hard it is to put reasonableness into rules.

And in the end I guess we all want the same: protect the vulnerable from abuse, and yet not victimize those who who aren't abusers. It's jsut that we need to find ways to agree on how to do that.

But as far as them being ‘free from polarizing politics’, you’re wrong.

I didn't say the exjw Reddit is free of that. It's just that half the posts here seem to be about politics and quite polarizing, and on Reddit most post have to do with something JW. The mix of topics is quite different between here and there.

As far as ‘dishonest’ topics on politics 🙄: it depends on your viewpoint!

I'm not talking about whether or not I agree with someone's viewpoint or not. I prefer exposing myself to different points of view, so I can learn. Polite conversation can be enlightening, even if parties don't agree on what the facts are.
But having lived through Watchtower lies, quotes out of context or without any source reference, I have learned to spot the overly wild claims based on soundbites ripped out of context, or wild speculation based on rumor to incite excitement for a cause. And it seems to me those seem to pop up around quite often....

Tbh I prefer the exjw Reddit over this forum, mainly because of the many polarizing (and imho often unreasonable or even dishonest) topics on politics around here.

I find it easier to ignore a teenagers' dumb but somewhat funny memes than to ignore adults ranting about how 'the evil others' of whatever side are going to destroy the USA....

The exjw reddit serves a lot of struggling people, especially the younger crowd. I think in terms of number of people finding support the exjw Reddit today helps more people than this forum (not that it's a contest).

And I can also see how the memes might be annoying enough to not like exjw reddit :-)
